Cooling System Components

There are quite a few important parts in your cooling system that maintain the engine temperature and prevent your vehicle from overheating. All of them are important and rely on one another. Each individual part, as important as it is, is also liable to fail and leave your vehicle running not optimally. We have trained/certified technicians that can inspect these components as well as repair and replace them as needed to make sure your vehicle has the longest life for you and your family.

  • Radiator Cap - This may seem like a small part that serves little to no purpose other than sealing the system but that is wrong. If the pressure in your cooling system is incorrect it can change the freezing/boiling point of your coolant which can cause breakdowns.
  • The Radiator - This is one of the most important parts of your cooling system. This takes the hot coolant from the engine and runs it through veins in the radiator with fresh air blowing through them to cool your engine coolant to proper temperature to avoid overheat conditions.
  • The Water Pump - This is the pump that moves the coolant throughout your cooling system. Did you know that some vehicles have multiple water pumps?
  • The Thermostat - The thermostat is responsible for allowing your engine to get to proper operating temperature and maintaining that while you are driving. It opens at a specific temperature to avoid the coolant in the engine from overheating. A sticking thermostat can cause your vehicle to overheat or never get to proper operating temperature.
  • The Radiator Fan - This component keeps fresh air moving through the radiator veins even when your vehicle is not moving. A faulty fan can often lead to a concern of the vehicle overheating while sitting still at red lights or in town.
  • The Heater Core - This part is what allows for heat inside the cabin of your vehicle. It carries the hot coolant from the engine to the dash and the blower motor blows air through it to make hot air. If this part is leaking or clogged it can lead to overheat conditions as well as a loss of heat inside your vehicles cabin.
